The test was reclocking the distributor by one and the misfire moved to the next cylinder number. (may not be enough room on an AMC to reclock because of the advance pot getting in the way) Same firing order on a sbc. 18436572.I will put #1 in it's firing position, take a picture or make a reference mark to something other then the distributor, remove the distributor, re position the distributor but keep the rotor is pointed to the reference, pull the wires and start the new #1 position. Then check timing.They you just put the rest of the wires in order around the cap. How to fix: Get the engine so the #1 cylinder is in firing position. Then pop off the cap and see where the rotor is. Take the distributor out and put it back in so the rotor is aligned with the #1 on the cap. Thanks for the info.
